My process
How I work
Straightforward, well-documented, and paced for small business owners. No retainers you did not ask for. No jargon reports. Just clear work and honest timelines.
Phase 1
Review
I start by looking at your website, your current situation, and what you actually need. Not what I can sell you, but what will make a measurable difference in a reasonable timeframe.
I ask about your services, your market, your competitors, and the specific problems you are trying to solve. I review your site, analytics, and any existing setup before proposing anything.
You get a written summary of what I found and what I recommend before any work begins.
Typical outputs
- Site review document
- Priority issue list
- Work scope proposal
- Timeline estimate
What I need from you
-
Website access
Admin credentials or FTP access so I can see what the site is actually doing, not just what it looks like from the outside.
-
Business context
A short conversation about your services, location, customer types, and the specific problem you want to solve.
-
Existing analytics
Access to any analytics or search console data you have, even if it is incomplete or you are not sure how to read it.
Phase 2
Plan and fix
Once I know what the site needs, I prioritise by impact and do the work in a sensible order. Critical issues first, then structural issues, then improvement opportunities.
I work transparently. You can see what has been changed, what is next, and why. I do not invoice for work you did not agree to.
For ongoing work, I check in regularly rather than disappearing between milestones.
We did not know most of these problems existed. The fix list made it obvious what to do first.
Typical work
-
Technical fixes
Page speed, broken links, indexing errors, redirect chains, form failures, mobile rendering issues.
-
Content and structure
Page titles, descriptions, headings, location signals, service clarity, outdated copy removal.
-
WordPress care
Plugin and theme updates in safe order, user review, backup verification, security hardening.
Phase 3
Hand off and maintain
When the work is done, I document what was changed and why, and leave you with a clear picture of what to maintain going forward.
I do not manufacture dependency. If the work is finished, it is finished. If you want ongoing help, I can provide that clearly scoped and priced.
Most clients come back when something changes, when they want to expand, or when they want someone to check whether the site has drifted since the last review.
What you receive
-
Completion report
A clear summary of what was done, what was found, and what I recommend keeping an eye on.
-
Maintenance notes
A short document explaining what needs regular attention and how often.
-
Access and ownership
All accounts and credentials remain yours. I do not hold anything for leverage.
My values
Reliable and uncomplicated
I do not reinvent the wheel, upsell unnecessarily, or make simple things complicated. The goal is a website that works well and can be maintained without drama.
-
Honest scoping
I quote for what you actually need, not what would generate the most billable hours.
-
Clear communication
Plain language in reports, emails, and calls. No jargon, no invented urgency.
-
Practical fixes
Solutions you can understand and maintain. Nothing clever for its own sake.
-
Fair timelines
Realistic estimates with sensible buffer, not tight deadlines designed to impress in a proposal.
-
Your data, your accounts
Everything you pay for belongs to you, including logins, analytics, and domain registrations.
-
Long-term thinking
I prefer to help you build something sustainable over selling you a quick fix that needs replacing next year.
